      • (sigh)

        2024

exhibition project: an archive of (sigh)

        exhale-able & inhale-able size

sigh, prayer, tears, O2, CO2, wood, clay, steel, room divider, balloon, acrylic plastic, resin, thread,

sigh machine as the starting point, but at the end of the day i realize that the human being is the sigh machine.

i sigh often, whether it's to relax with deep breaths or to lament. the weight of lightness, and the lightness of weight.

a sigh is something ephemeral, a storm, rising from the depths of the body's tsunami, unleashed from the mouth. yet the teeth never erode, teeth are something eternal, the sarira of mortals.

teeth are the parts that remain unchanged on the ship of Theseus-a fixation, an obsession. even after the body burns away, the teeth linger. all the sighs you ever made fade with the flesh, but the teeth endure. this is a form of fixation, a form of attachment. eternity is a kind of attachment, a kind of desire. how do you fill the unfillable desire? how do you restrain the stirrings of the heart and all such impulses? even eternity is a kind of desire. much of the suffering is rooted in desire. if moments can be eternal, could this solve the riddle? it could soothe some of my obsessions, perhaps. this confusion is exhausting and painful. just let it be; not everything needs an answer. chasing after answers drives me insane.

        sigh. (sighs)

        sigh is praying

        sigh is cleansing

        sigh is mourning

        sigh is pearl
