何琛瑶

Eva Chenyao He, born in 2001 in Shenzhen, China, currently lives in New York, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in fine arts at The Cooper Union in the United States, with an exchange program at Gerrit Rietveld Academie in the Netherlands. Her works have been exhibited in the United States, China, South Korea, Italy, the Netherlands, France, and the United Kingdom. Her practice includes but is not limited to sculpture, installations, performance art, moving images, and mixed media.

Eva Chenyao He’s work focuses on the temporality and eternity of the subject, the fusion of life and non-life, the organic and the inorganic. Her work explores the boundaries between individual subjectivity and grand narratives, as well as the ambiguity and alienation of the individual and the essence of nature within the process of modernization.  Drawing upon the thread of human desire,   she creates a liminal space between material and immaterial, using intangible and formless materials to express a sense of independence and inaccessibility, bridging a dialogue between the invisible and the visible, the transient and the eternal.

Rooted in reflections on time, desire, and existence, her practice is permeated by a sense of unease and yearning. She questions authenticity, deconstructs the concept of “the real,” and uses visual illusions to reveal the intricate relationship between power structures and individual self-projection. Amid fragility and the unreachable, she seeks the possibility of connection and solace, guiding viewers into a space of poetic contemplation and introspection that reexamines individual subjectivity and its potentiality within contemporary contexts.

何琛瑶，2001年出生于中国深圳，目前生活和工作于纽约，就读于美国库伯联盟学院纯艺专业，曾在荷兰里特维尔德学院交换学习。 作品曾在美国、中国、韩国、意大利、荷兰、法国、英国等国家展出。其创作包括但不限于雕塑、装置艺术、行为艺术、动态影像和混合媒介。

何琛瑶的艺术实践聚焦于主体的瞬间性与永恒性、生命与非生命、有机与无机的融合，探讨个体主体性与宏大叙事的边界，以及现代化进程中个体与自然本质的模糊化与异化。她以人类的欲望为线索，通过无形、无固定形态的材料，创造出一个介于物质与非物质之间的空间，表达一种独立且无法抵达的感受，使无形与有形、短暂与永恒之间建立复杂的对话。

通过对时间、欲望和生命的反思，不安和渴求贯穿她的艺术实践。她质疑真实性，解构“真实”，通过创造视觉幻象反映权力结构与个体自我投射之间的复杂关系。在脆弱与不可触及中，探索连接和抚慰的可能性，引导观众进入诗意与沉思的空间，重新思考个体主体性与其在当代语境中的潜在可能性。
