In “Execution”, the figure wearing a huge cloak could not see others, and the others could only make noise. They all wore the same uniform and did meaningless actions, creating irritating noise. The figure couldn't see them but was troubled by this intangible force. What caused the others to be so standardized and regulated by a higher power that was not visible or present in the performance? It could have been some authoritarian influence that forced them to act in a disciplined way, trying to oppress someone like themselves, the figure, who was also dressed the same as the others, except for the huge cloak. The figure could be seen as a sensitive individual who tried to hide but was made more noticeable by the glittering flakes on the cloak. However, the figure couldn't see her brilliance and was chased by intangible pressure and noise, allowing that force to manipulate her. Eventually, the figure was defeated and even killed by the group's power. Still, the others didn't know they had persecuted someone and just left, continuing to make noise and leaving coldly.
“Rebirth” is prepared for a series of new works, where the figure was executed in an entirely white-enclosed environment. The new work's scenes are almost all outdoors, implying a rebirth, exploring a new world. The shots were taken in Venice, an artificial island built on marble-capped wooden piles and mud, which is sinking every year, but still has a strong vitality and is struggling. It also explores whether rebirth is always good. Is death a release for the cloak-wearer? Even if the cloak is removed, does it become just like everyone else? Why do we believe that a new force is powerful? But death is something we want to avoid. We always desire to survive, but we rarely consider why people have this innate desire. It could result from genetic evolution, and if we use the theory of natural selection to explain it, creatures that don't want to survive will eventually die out. In contrast, those that want to survive will continue to thrive. This brings us back to the previous question: is it always living well? Perhaps death is a release? “Rebirth” is about uncovering human inner desires and behaviors that are already conditioned by society, but the individual is unaware of them.
